05 Mar International Women’s Day: Meet the PR & Social Media Team
The ladies behind the posts (like this one!)
International Women’s week continues! Yesterday we gave you a small glimpse into our Digital team, and today, we are breaking the fourth wall! Learn more about the members of the David’s Bridal Public Relations and Social Media team, who work every day to inspire our brides-to-be from working with outlets like The Knot, to dressing your favorite bloggers, and making sure you see our newest looks on Instagram.
Callie, Senior Director of Marketing Communications
What is your favorite part about working at David’s Bridal? My inspiring team. A group of the smartest, hardest working, down to earth women I’ve ever met.
Is there a coworker who has helped you reach an important goal? Way more than one. My coworkers are what makes my work world go ’round. They’re sounding boards, motivators and teachers and I’m constantly learning from them. There are way too many to name, though I’d like another opportunity to give each one individual recognition!
What makes you feel confident? For me, confidence has come with time. It’s not a specific thing that makes me feel confident, but years of experiences, both good and bad, helped me learn to move forward with confidence. Still, there are still plenty of days where I have to be reminded that I’m awesome 🙂 My husband and kids are good for that!
As a busy working woman, how do you take care of yourself? I have a 4 year old and an 8 month old, and their needs are always going to come before mine. But, I really try to carve out time for exercise (I’m a Peloton addict!) and also solo time with my husband–I feel my best when I’m able to do that.
What one piece of advice would you give your younger self? To speak up–that you deserve a seat at the table as much as the next person.
What are you seeing in the world, specifically pertaining to women and girls, that gives you hope? All of the women who decided to run for office this year. The uptick of women in politics is way overdue, but I’m glad to see the tides are turning!
What’s your favorite current bridal trend? The second dress! I wore a super form fitted dress when I was married almost 7 years ago and it was so hot and hard to dance in. I wish second dresses were a thing then–it would have made the party even more fun!
Ashley, Senior Manager of Engagement Marketing
What is your favorite part about working at David’s Bridal? I’m a romantic so I love the thought of being a (small) part of so many women’s special days. In my role, I’m constantly looking for ways to inspire her and show her she can have the wedding of her dreams no matter her style, size or budget.
Is there a coworker who has helped you reach an important goal? I’ve been fortunate to have an amazing manager who advocates for me and is always encouraging me to push myself to continue to learn and grow by taking new projects.
What makes you feel confident? Working in a female-focused industry at a company made up of so many female employees and leaders makes me feel confident – in my current role and for my future with David’s Bridal.
As a busy working woman, how do you take care of yourself? With two young children (ages 2 and 4), there isn’t a lot of time for self-care but I have started trying to take better care of my skin. I’ve started doing face masks on Sundays – it’s 10 minutes to myself to de-stress before the Monday madness begins.
What one piece of advice would you give your younger self? I’d tell my younger self – and young women in general – that they are stronger and smarter than they give themselves credit for. Be confident in your abilities, stay motivated and determined, and good things will come.
What are you seeing in the world, specifically pertaining to women and girls, that gives you hope? I love seeing female leaders “balancing” motherhood and careers. As a working mom, it’s important to see that it’s possible, even if it’s not always perfect or easy.
What’s your favorite current bridal trend? Straps and sleeves! I wish there had been more options when I got married (7 years ago.) While strapless wedding dresses are timeless and flattering on just about everyone, it’s nice that there are so many more options to add more interest to your neckline.
Delaney, Senior Social Media Specialist
What is your favorite part about working at David’s Bridal? The people, the people, the people! I am surrounded by smart, creative, and kind women and men who make coming to work not feel like work.
Is there a coworker who has helped you reach an important goal? It is not just one goal, but a lot of goals (plus ones I didn’t know I had)! As my manager, Ashley has pushed me to be more confident and grow in my career every day. I am lucky to have her by my side (literally and figuratively!)
What makes you feel confident? In work: Completing a task that I am proud of // In life: A fresh hair cut & blowout
As a busy working woman, how do you take care of yourself? A weekly face mask, spending some time unplugged (despite working in social media!), and getting a good night’s sleep
What one piece of advice would you give your younger self? Stop worrying so much and comparing yourself to your peers. You’re on your own path!
What are you seeing in the world, specifically pertaining to women and girls, that gives you hope? That women aren’t afraid to be heard.
What’s your favorite current bridal trend? I love the minimalist chic vibe (a la Meghan Markle‘s reception dress!)
