31 Jul Wedding Dress Advice for Pregnant Brides
Tips for finding your dream gown when you’re expecting.
Getting married and having a baby—two big reasons to celebrate! We’re here to help you navigate where these two journeys intersect.
Start Your Dress Search Early
Even though your body is changing, it’s smart to go dress shopping sooner than later. By scheduling an appointment early on, you’ll have a wider selection to choose from, including special order styles that can take several weeks to arrive.
Consider the Cut
An empire waist hits right under your bust and flows down to the floor, making this a classic, breezy silhouette that you’ll feel good in, too. Styles with corset backs also provide a little more flexibility, and our alterations experts can replace a zipper with this tie closure on any style you like.
Think Ahead for Sizing
At your appointment, your stylist will suggest what size to order based on where you are in your pregnancy. Typically, we recommend ordering one size up if you’ll be three to five months pregnant at your wedding. If you’ll be more than six months pregnant, go up two sizes.
Time Your Alterations Right
To ensure that your dress fits beautifully, we’ll work with you to schedule fittings as close to your wedding date as possible. When you purchase your dress, ask to meet with the alterations team to make a plan, or schedule an alterations appointment.
Personalize Your Style
Speaking of alterations, we can accommodate requests for adding sleeves to a strapless gown, removing boning, and more. If there’s anything that would make you feel more comfortable and beautiful on your day, just let us know!
