David’s Bridal’s visions for the Royal Wedding dress.
The countdown for the Royal Wedding is officially on at David’s Bridal! Maybe it’s the fact that an American woman is a living the ultimate princess fantasy, or the fact that Meghan and Harry seem relatively normal (they got engaged while roasting a chicken, after all) but we’re anxiously awaiting all the wedding day details. Naturally, we’re most excited to see the Royal Wedding dress. It’s very unlikely that we’ll learn anything about Meghan Markle’s wedding dress until the big day, so our designers imagined a few looks from our various designer collections for her dignified “I Do.”
David’s Bridal Collection
Duchess satin felt like a natural starting point for a Royal Wedding dress from the David’s Bridal Collection. Hand placed lace appliques on the off-the-shoulder illusion neckline makes this ball gown classic and timeless, but the front slit gives it an updated edge. A classic cathedral veil completes the ensemble.
Galina Signature
A stretch Mikado gown with a fit and flare skirt would beautifully accentuate Meghan’s fantastic figure. The sexy beaded slip bodice and low back are modestly veiled with a beaded tulle cape that takes the place of a veil. The overall Galina Signature look is sensual yet sophisticated – perfect for a bride who isn’t afraid to break away from the traditional.
Melissa Sweet
We could see Meghan in something romantic and a little vintage inspired, like our Melissa Sweet collection, since she’s admitted to being drawn to whimsical wedding dresses. A slim, strapless lace sheath topped with a sheer long sleeve tulle and hand-applied lace overlay offers plenty of romance while still being slightly reminiscent of our favorite princess wedding dress inspiration. We would add a coordinated lace applique cathedral veil to her bridal attire.
Oleg Cassini
This allover lace, hand-beaded gown with an illusion lace appliqued mock neck and cap sleeves is modest, regal, and elegant. The skirt seam adds a subtle yet relevant detail. We finished her Oleg Cassini wedding gown with a matching cathedral veil and a tiara (which we assume she’d borrow from a future in-law).
WHITE x Vera Wang
For something more avant garde, we recommend WHITE by Vera Wang for the Royal Wedding dress. The giant rosettes, high-low hem skirt, stretch illusion yoke and sleeves, and bias pleated bodice make this gown modern, dramatic, and a little daring. The extended train is very couture and would make a dramatic entrance for Meghan at St. George’s Chapel. Top the gown with an heirloom tiara to maintain a touch of tradition.
